Send your bulk mail quick and cheap

Discount of up to 50%
If you regularly send large quantities of letters, you will save a lot of money with our bulk mail service. Your saving can even run to 50%. From just 250 items, you can benefit from a lower rate, and in the case of regional mail, from just 100 items.

With bulk mail, the more you send, the cheaper it is, as lower rates apply to larger quantities of items.

Delivery within 24 or 48 hours
Bulk mail can, of course, be delivered within 24 hours. Another, even cheaper option is delivery within two days. Different minimum quantities apply to this service.

How does bulk mail work?

Postage paid franking
Franking can be done with a postage paid impression (stamp or pre-printed) or a franking machine (up to 50 grams). You can download the postage paid logo or order a stamp.

Bulk mailTendering in countable quantities
Tender your consignment in easily countable quantities of 25, 50 or 100 items, for example, along with a completed order form. You can create order forms (P1700) yourself digitally with MyPost, or order them direct. You should preferably tender bulk mail to one of the PostNL Business Points or business counters. Please note that this is obligatory if you wish to be eligible for revenue-related rates or discounts. You can also tender regional mail and smaller consignments to your nearest post office. Another option is to use the collection service.

Sizes and weights
Letters must be equal in appearance and come into the same weight category.

Size:

  • Minimum 14 x 9 cm
  • Maximum 38 x 26.5 x 3.2 cm

Weight: 

  • Regional mail: maximum 500 g
  • All destinations in the Netherlands: maximum 3 kg

What does bulk mail cost?

Rates and payment
You can find a list of the rates for bulk mail in the PostNL Rates brochure. You can also determine the correct rate using the Tarievenwijzer (electronic postal rate wizard). You pay for bulk mail in arrears, by monthly invoice or by one-off direct debit.

Bulk mailVarious discounts 

  • Revenue-related rates: the higher your annual revenue, the lower the rates
  • Time/place discount: 2% discount if you tender your mail before 16:00 at a location agreed in advance 
  • KIX discount: 0.5% discount if you use the KIX code when addressing your mail items 
  • Volume discount: if you tender more than 5,000 letters or direct mail. The amount of this discount depends on the number of items.     

These discounts are given on condition that you meet a certain revenue threshold and conclude an agreement with PostNL in advance. If you would like to conclude an agreement, please contact PostNL Business Service by calling +31 (0)76 527 2727.

Frequently asked questions

I only have 240 letters to send. Can I use the bulk mail rates?
Yes. In that case, it is possible to make up the number to the minimum. Just fill in 240 items on the order form. The number will automatically be made up to 250 items. You will then pay the bulk mail rate for 250 items. This is still cheaper that sending 240 single letters.

What are the regional mail areas?
The regional mail area for bulk mail refers to a different area than that given on the PostNL public postbox. Take a look at the list of all the regional mail areas.

Which conditions have to be met by the postage paid impression?
The postage paid (Port Betaald) impression must contrast sufficiently with the background; i.e. there must be at least 70% black value on a light background. The background does not have to be white, providing the franking mark is clearly legible. If you are unsure, you can send a sample to PostNL Business Service, who will then look at whether the sorting machines can read the printing well.
