Instructions for completing the form
General explanation
A customs declaration form is required for mail items with goods to all countries outside the EU and the non-tax areas of the EU/areas of the EU not included in the Customs Union (see http://www.douane.nl/english/). You can use this programme for preparing the normal CN22 form. We strongly recommend that you also attach an invoice to the outside of the mail item in the case of trade mail items. If the value of the contents exceeds € 425, you must attach a fully completed, detailed customs declaration form (CN23; P2407 form). Once you have completed everything, you can print out the CN22 by clicking on "print". The CN22 will be printed on labels measuring 97 x 67mm or 99 x 68mm, with 8 to a sheet of A4.
Instructions per field
Specification of contents: Here, give a full and precise description of the contents of the mail item, also if it concerns a gift or trade sample. Do this in the language of the destination country or in another language that is recognised for international mail (English or French). The mail item is often handled more quickly by customs if there is a good description of the contents. Do not use general descriptions such as “foodstuffs” or “spare parts”, but give an exact description. If you are sending a variety of goods, you can use the other two lines.
Customs value: Here, fill in the value of the contents of your mail item. If you are sending a variety of goods, you must fill in the value of each of these goods. State the value in euros.
Net weight: Here, fill in the net weight of the mail item (in grams). The maximum gross weight of the mail item for using the CN22 is 2 kg, with the exception of books, for which the maximum is 5 kg.
Total value: The total value (in euros) is the sum of the amounts filled in next to the description of goods (this is calculated automatically). When using a CN22, the total value of contents may not exceed € 425.
Gift or trade sample: If the mail item contains a gift or trade sample, you must tick the box “gift/trade sample”. State any exceptional situations (such as returns, goods for repair and temporary import) as far as possible under the specification of contents.
Signature: In the application, you can include your electronic signature that you have scanned yourself (in PDF format). If you do not have an electronic signature, sign the printed CN22 by hand.
