Children’s Welfare Stamps and the Rijksmuseum join forces to help vulnerable children

20140603 Children's Welfare Stamps and the Rijksmuseum join forces to help vulnerable children

This year, the Foundation for Children’s Welfare Stamps Netherlands and PostNL are launching the Children’s Welfare Stamp together with the Rijksmuseum. The theme of this year’s stamp is ‘Let children learn’. Each of the parties involved is advocating this in its own unique way. The success of the Children’s Welfare Stamp is important, as the proceeds are donated to projects that create opportunities for vulnerable children both in the Netherlands and abroad. This year, an education project in the Netherlands and a project in Senegal have been chosen.

Children of the Rijksmuseum

The children of the Rijksmuseum are the focus of this year’s Children’s Welfare Stamps. Inspiration for the stamps was found in the fantastic work of artists from the Golden Age until the end of the last century. Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Breitner and Israëls have all immortalised children in a beautiful way in their paintings. There remains the question of whether all of them will have the honour of adorning the sheet of Children’s Welfare Stamps. During the presentation of the stamps in September, it will be decided which children of the Rijksmuseum would have the privilege of contributing to the future of today’s children.
