Girls in university preparatory education visit PostNL Ridderkerk parcel sorting office

More than 8,500 girls get to know science, technology and IT companies on Girlsday

Girlsday

The Hague, 23 April 2015 - In the framework of Girlsday, 300 companies across the Netherlands opened their doors to young girls aged between ten and fifteen. Girls from CSG Willem Van Oranje school’s 2nd year pre-university class in Oud-Beijerland visited the parcel sorting office in Ridderkerk. Girlsday is organised by VHTO the national expert organisation on girls’ participation in science, technology and IT in the Netherlands.

“IT personnel and technicians are important for organisations’ future. And certainly for our logistics processes too, which enable our deliverers to deliver mail and parcels daily throughout the Netherlands. We also want to reflect society. We believe in strong teams comprised of people with varying capacities, thus also a good mix of men and women. That’s why we consider it important that girls get to know the possibilities at our company and are inspired by stories from female IT colleagues”, explained Marcel Krom, PostNL’s CIO.
