PostNL delivers 5,939 gift parcels for the King’s Games

The Hague, 16 April 2015 - For the third year in a row PostNL is delivering the King’s Games’ gift parcels to all participating primary schools; a total of 5,939 parcels. The 34 Willem-Alexander primary schools received their gift parcels on 16 April. The Koning Willem-Alexander school in Culemborg was particularly in the spotlight. Parcel delivery driver Cees van Doorn and King’s Games presenter, Tim Douwsma, came to deliver the gift parcel personally. When they arrived, the pupils sang the special King’s Game song, ‘Energie!’.

A total of 5,854 primary schools and more than 1.2 million children in the Netherlands and the Caribbean Netherlands will participate in the King’s Games on Friday 24 April 2015. The schools will receive their King’s Games’ gift parcels between 8 and 20 April. The gift parcel contains a flag, a skipping rope, elastic bands, cones and a special reaction ball. These are all items with which the school can put its own slant on the King’s Games and with which the children can play at other times of the year too.

Dutch schools abroad

PostNL is not only ensuring that schools in the Netherlands and the Caribbean Netherlands can participate in the King’s Games; 10,000 pupils at Dutch schools abroad and Dutch departments of European schools can also participate. Cooperation with Stichting Nederlands Onderwijs in het Buitenland [the Foundation for Dutch Education Worldwide] and the King’s Games has made this possible.
