The Hague, 19 June 2015 – Today at the Volvo Ocean Race festival in The Hague, PostNL presented the new stamps featuring the biggest sailing race. Volvo Ocean Race CEO Knut Frostad and Team Brunel sailor Bouwe Bekking were personally given the stamps by PostNL Marketing Director Ludo Voorn.

The ‘Volvo Ocean Race Pit Stop The Hague 2015’ stamp sheet features action shots of the participating teams. “The open sea competition was our main focus. The images used are from previous legs of this edition, so these stamps are very current”, Ludo Voorn says.

Knut Frostad expressed his appreciation of the choices PostNL made in using images of the race. "The stamps make for a great memento of the whole Volvo Ocean Race, from the start at Alicante in Spain to the climax in Gotenburg, Sweden. It is wonderful to see the last nine months of intense racing and these epic adventures pictured on ten stamps."

Spotlight on ocean sailing

Bouwe Bekking explains how proud his team is of the stamps. “I love that PostNL has made this special Volvo Ocean Race stamp. This will further increase awareness of ocean sailing in the Netherlands. Hopefully, these kinds of initiatives will also help create a support base in a large part of the Dutch business industry, so that a Dutch sailing team will be able to participate in the next Volvo Ocean Race as well”, says Bouwe Bekking.

The Volvo Ocean Race Pit Stop The Hague 2015 stamps are marked ‘Nederland 1’, the denomination for items up to 20g in weight destined for mail within the Netherlands. The stamps are available for as long as stocks last in Bruna shops and via The stamps are valid until further notice.
