The Hague, 14 April 2016 – This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fiep Westendorp’s birth by creating a radiant Children’s Welfare Stamp series featuring Jip & Janneke, Pluk van de Petteflet, Pim & Pom and Otje. The stamps with the recognisable and very Dutch illustrations will be on sale from September.

The Foundation for Children’s Welfare Stamps Netherlands will use the proceeds of stamp sales to provide vulnerable children in the Netherlands and developing countries with the chance of a better future. The Fiep Westendorp Foundation also supports projects focusing on vulnerable children. This makes the partnership between both parties and PostNL a logical choice.

Jeroen den Tex, Director of the Foundation for Children’s Welfare Stamps Netherlands says: “It’s fantastic that we can combine forces for the benefit of vulnerable children. We expect that the stamps with Fiep Westendorp’s cheerful illustrations will be enthusiastically received. Thousands of schools have already announced their desire to do their part.”

According to Ludo Voorn, Director of Marketing at PostNL: “Fiep Westendorp’s characteristic illustrations also appeared on the Children’s Welfare Stamps in 1999. It’s wonderful to be able to draw upon these many illustrations once again, in honour of ‘100 Years of Fiep’. All ages will immediately recognize the drawings of Fiep. This makes Children’s Welfare Stamps special again this year.”
