Hundreds of new PostNL pick-up locations in Belgium to accommodate rapid growth in e-commerce

The Hague, 30 July 2014 - PostNL launches 300 new parcel pick-up locations in Belgium, especially in and around Brussels and in Flanders. The reason for this major expansion is the rapid growth in parcel post in Belgium, driven primarily by the increase in online shopping. The first six months of 2014 showed over 25% growth compared to the same period in 2013. This development solidifies the position of PostNL as the number-one parcel delivery service in the Benelux.

Starting today, the PostNL Parcels services in Belgium will be expanded. After two attempts to deliver the parcel to the specified address, parcels will be dropped off at the closest pick-up location. Customers can pick up the parcel from there for the next fourteen days at a time that’s convenient for them.

Via Track & Trace on www.postnl.be/parcels, the recipient can easily use the barcode to identify the location of the designated pick-up point. If the recipient’s e-mail address has been provided, he will be notified by e-mail when the parcel arrives at the pick-up location. If the parcel has not yet been collected after seven days, the recipient will receive another e-mail reminder to pick up the parcel.

The pick-up locations are made possible thanks to a partnership between PostNL and Kariboo!. This partnership creates a network comprising hundreds of pick-up locations all across Belgium with very accommodating opening hours, where customers can collect their parcels or drop them off to be sent. An overview of where the pick-up points are located can be viewed at www.onlineverzendservice.be
