Postage and stamps
How to frank your mail and parcels
Postage is calculated based on item weight. Depending on the destination of your card or letter, different stamps are used: Netherlands 1 and Netherlands 2 in the case of domestic mail, and International 1 for international mail. Parcels may be sent with PostNL Parcel Stamps.

Postage due
To avoid unnecessary delays, mail with insufficient postage will always be delivered.
In the case of domestic mail, we will try to recover the costs from the sender. If the sender is unknown, the costs will be recovered from the addressee. Of course the addressee can refuse mail with insufficient postage.
In the case of international mail, postage due will be recovered from the sender only.
Parcel Stamps
Use our Parcel Stamps to send your parcels quickly and easily. With our standard Parcel Stamps you get the following service:
- Two delivery attempts
- Online tracking
- Delivery to a neighbouring address if the addressee is not at home
- Addressee can collect the parcel at a nearby post office for up to one week
For valuable or important deliveries, we offer the following special Parcel Stamps:
Signature for Delivery
Up to 500 euros compensation in the event of loss or damage. Addressee is required to sign for delivery.
Insured Delivery
Up to 5,500 euros compensation in the event of loss or damage. Addressee is required to sign for delivery.
Cash On Delivery
Addressee pays at the time of delivery. Up to 500 euros compensation in the event of loss or damage All Parcel Stamps are available at your local post office.
Please note that you cannot use regular stamps to frank your parcel.
