Starting with the PostNL API

You are starting the implementation process to use our API . If you use the PostNL plugin for Magento (1 or 2), CCVshop, WooCommerce or Lightspeed, please contact us via digitaleklantsupport@postnl.nl. We will send you the correct data, so that you do not have to go through the process below. If you work via an IT party, we would also like to receive an e-mail. We can check whether we have already made agreements about the use of the API.If you are going to install the API yourself, you can continue with the steps below.

How does it work?

Use the Sandbox API key to build in and test the API. Contact us when you have finished testing by sending an email to digitaleklantsupport@postnl.nl. We check the received test requests. If these suffice, you will get access to the Production API key.

If you only want to use the delivery options and create your labels in a different way, you can immediately go live!

2. Label validation

Do you use the Labeling API? Then you can print ten labels with the Production API key and send them to us at the address below:

It is important that you print the labels with a printer that you will actually use when sending. Also state the customer number and contact details on the labels so that we can provide feedback.

Tip: Use our address for the labels and send us a parcel instead of a letter. This way you can follow your parcel and see what happens with your first parcel.

3. Check

We check the scanability of the labels. We have to be strict about this, because parcels move over our conveyer belts in a very fast pace. The barcode must be clearly visible. We recommend that you print the labels at different speeds, temperatures and densities and state on each label which settings you have used. We can then advise you on the best setting.

If the labels suffice, we will inform you accordingly. The implementation is then complete and you can start shipping!
