Address Validation

The Address Validation will check your addresses on correctness for delivery by PostNL. PostNL has a master file based on Key Registers for Addresses and Buildings (BAG), supplemented by validated delivery addresses. You can enhance your data continuously with the Address Validation which will reduce the number of return items and increases response rates.

PostNL evaluates your data on correctness of delivery. Address Validation indicates whether an address is “deliverable” or “undeliverable”. Address Validation will provide the reason why an item is considered to be undeliverable by PostNL.

Addresses in the Netherlands, hence your data, are continuously subject to change. Address Validation provides insight into the correctness of your addresses. You can enhance your data with the Address Validation which will reduce the number of return items and increases response rates.

The undeliverable addresses in your data file will be clustered under “Other”. PostNL will, despite the fact it is not recognised as a correct address, do its utmost to deliver the mail items to the addressee. Mail items which cannot be delivered will be returned to sender.

PostNL uses your data only for comparison with the master file of standard delivery addresses in the Netherlands. Your data does not have to contain any personal information. The comparison is made on general address information such as: street name, house number, house number addition, postal code and city.
All data is encrypted, processed and safely returned to you. PostNL deletes all data files after validation nor keeps back up files of your data.

Yes, the Address Validation is order-related. This means that we check the deliverability of your addresses prior to hand over of your mailing to PostNL.
