Checklist: sending goods to the US
- 1
Is it legal?
You’re legally prohibited from sending certain items by post. Others are subject to strict packaging requirements. So make sure you check the shipping conditions.
- 2
Did you include a customs form?
Like all non-EU destinations, you must fill out a customs form when sending goods to the US. Failure to do so will likely result in the shipment being seized by customs.
- 3
Did you notify the recipient?
Depending on the contents and value, the recipient will be required to pay import duties. So it’s a good idea to notify them that a package is on its way.
