PostNL concludes that the Dutch government’s proposal for the universal service obligation (USO) is insufficient for a future-proof postal delivery service. While mail delivery within two and, over time, within three days is a step in the right direction, the proposal imposes unworkable standards and leaves crucial issues unresolved.

Today, PostNL announces the settlement of a Schuldschein transaction, securing an amount of €100 million.

From 1 July 2025, PostNL will raise its domestic stamp price to €1.31. This is inevitable in the face of declining mail volumes and rising costs, with mail delivery now costing more than it brings in.

The Hague/Hoofddorp, 3 June 2025 – Starting today, it is possible to send and return FedEx parcels via the more than 1,100 parcel lockers of PostNL. This collaboration enables smarter and more efficient logistics, while offering greater convenience and more delivery options to consumers.

PostNL opens parcel lockers to FedEx

Ten years ago, PostNL was one of the first logistics service providers in the Netherlands to launch an app. It allowed users to easily track their parcels and adjust delivery. Since then, the PostNL app has evolved into the digital heart of parcel delivery. In 2024, 5.9 million people used the app. They enjoy convenience, can contact their delivery driver, gain insights in their shipment, and choose where their parcel is delivered.
